Marketing tip for authors: sit down and figure out what special interest groups might find things to like in your novel.
Does the novel mention quilting? Playing the piano? Gardening? Does it have a regional focus, possibly including a particular sports team or university? Sit down and write down all the possibilities. Better yet, when you’re crafting the novel, keep this in mind and put some in!
Then consider how you can reach the people in these groups. You’ll be sending out press releases and writing blog posts anyway, no doubt. The more you can tailor these to address certain audiences, the more you’ll hit the jackpot.
Search the web, and ask people you know or your family knows. Find the influencers in these groups and ask to share their platforms for a bit. Give them a copy of your book, plus another copy to give away, and ask to speak to their audience.
These influencers are always looking for something good to recommend or a new face to introduce. You’d be helping them, not bugging them. So don’t be shy!
