Writers, here are some websites that may help you get the word out about your book.
http://ereadernewstoday.com/bargain-kindle-books/ Putting your ebook on sale at Amazon for a couple of days? This site markets a limited number of books on sale for free or 99 cents each day to a large group of readers and takes a 25 percent cut of sales. The genres that perform the best for their readers are romance, contemporary fiction, historical fiction, mystery, thrillers, and Christian fiction. Less successful are fantasy, sci fi, young adult, children’s, and paranormal.
http://bookpinning.com/ This site lets you “pin” an image of your book cover to a board containing others in its genre. You can do it once every 30 days and can do it with multiple books. There apparently is a fee.
Both of these sites are aimed primarily at the secular market but hold to PG standards.
Be on the lookout for blogs and blog magazines aimed at the readers who like your genre. Ask to do guest posts and articles, as well as consider advertising. Submit your book if there is a library. For Christian speculative fiction (sci fi and fantasy) readers, there’s Speculative Faith, which has a set of book reviews at http://www.speculativefaith.com/library/ . There’s also the Lost Genre Guild, http://lostgenreguild.blogspot.com/p/books.html .
What can you find in your preferred genre?
