This summer at the Realm Makers Conference, we’re offering free mentoring to anyone who signs up. We’re happy to share some of the Castle Gate Press special handling we give our authors. This TLC has so far resulted in: last year one Amazon category bestseller, and for this year a book that is both a finalist for the Realm Award and for the Excellence in Editing Award, and another book that is a finalist for the Grace Award, chosen by readers.
It’s me, Phyllis, who’s offering this. Suzanne will take regular pitch appointments. Those are important too; we’re hoping to find just the right next manuscript for our team to work on.
If you sign up for mentoring with me, you can choose to focus on one of these:
Story structure–honing your manuscript, especially from a big-picture perspective, my specialty. You’ll need to give me something in advance to look at and read. Ideally, it would be ten manuscript pages and a one-page synopsis or, even shorter, a general outline of the plot as you see it at this point. Please send it to p.wheeler “at” castlegatepress.com at least two weeks ahead of the conference.
Creating characters–I’ll show you what key questions to ask your character to help you develop her into a complex person that readers will love to follow.
Marketing–we can discuss a marketing plan. You can show me your website and other ways you are going to communicate with your fans. We can discuss indie vs traditional publication, pros and cons.

What’s the Realm Makers Conference? It’s the premier conference for Christians who write fantasy, sci fi, and other mind-bending books. This year it’s in Reno July 27-29. You might want to pack your nerf gun.
